I work in several areas of food law and supply chain. We can summarize our activities as: strategic and regulatory consulting, law interpretation, training, teaching, publishing, horizon scanning and newsletters, crisis management, supply chain issues, including IT infrastructures, traceability, and breaking data silos. The market is behaving quite strangely, and despite running a business for nearly 15 years (growing organically at an average 40% year), I have never seen such volatility, even knowing quite well the nature of consulting. We hired mostly permanently and created a working environment where quality of life, ideas, and diversity are respected, recognizing that a good quality of life is essential to have great working performance. Most companies complain that they do not find workers, but most of them do not understand the new generations and do not deserve applications: we receive hundreds. Hiring is key to growth for small companies: hiring the wrong person is the most costly error you can make. It can harm your workflow, the harmony of your team, and your clients. Traditional hiring strategies based on ticking boxes or “fake-it-until-you-make-it” CVs never worked for me. Therefore, we are now trying a different hiring strategy to find 𝐣𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐟𝐟 and, in the meantime, 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐩𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 across the world (we provide service in more than 90 countries) and 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬. Knowledge is in the grasp of everybody; the tools to get it have never been so many, and we have unmatched know-how and network. So, what I am looking for now are 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐚𝐰, 𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞, or fail and start again as long as needed to get there. I am looking for people who can fit into a 𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚-𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞, and candid - but polite - feedback is constant.
