System Administrator | Italy (Remote/Hybrid) A specialist in high-precision scanning and distributed compute infrastructure is looking for a System Administrator to ensure the seamless operation of its global hardware footprint. The company is currently transitioning towards a more automated, scalable environment, providing a unique opportunity to own the day-to-day health of a Linux-heavy ecosystem while contributing to long-term Infrastructure as Code initiatives. This involves a blend of hands-on hardware management and software-driven automation, ensuring that internal engineering teams and client-facing deployments remain highly available. Diagnose and resolve hardware failures involving storage drives, GPUs, memory, and networking. Debug software-level issues, including drivers, containers, and internal proprietary tools. Extend and maintain Ansible-based configuration management to reduce manual intervention. Build repeatable deployment processes for new scanning stations to ensure consistency. Provide technical support to both internal engineering and operations teams. Manage networking infrastructure across internal environments and client-deployed sites. The company requires a proactive administrator who is equally comfortable in a terminal as they are working with physical server components. Strong Linux system administration skills, specifically within Ubuntu environments. Solid networking fundamentals and the ability to troubleshoot connectivity issues in distributed systems. A clear understanding of the interaction between application software and infrastructure (GPU drivers, CUDA toolkits, and container runtimes). A valid driving licence and a willingness to travel occasionally to client sites. Professional fluency in English. Experience with Ansible or similar configuration management tools. Familiarity with monitoring and alerting stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Netdata). Exposure to Terraform or AWS solution architecture.
