As a Sr. Staff Power Conversion Technologist, you will serve as a key technical thought leader within the Performance Computing Power organization. You will shape and influence strategic product and technology roadmaps, with a focus on the power distribution architectures spanning from the rack bus bar to the ASIC voltage regulator (VR). Your mission is to drive compelling system‑level innovation, establish the right factors of merit, and deeply analyze architectural tradeoffs to ensure that Renesas maintains market leadership in high‑performance power delivery. Key Responsibilities Engaging deeply with top market‑defining customers to understand emerging system challenges and requirements. Modeling, simulating, and analyzing power converters and full power distribution architectures. Evaluating, synthesizing, and comparing technology options required to realize next‑generation architectures. Assessing manufacturing flows and identifying critical process considerations for advanced 3D heterogeneous power packaging. Developing long‑term technology roadmaps spanning packaging, manufacturing processes, and IP development. Identifying opportunities for differentiated, disruptive products and power technology capabilities. Leading advanced feasibility studies, developing detailed specification documents, and driving early prototyping with cross‑functional engineering teams. Creating methodologies and tools to define and track key KPIs and factors of merit that articulate technical value. Building organizational alignment around strategic direction and clearly communicating the “why” behind the roadmap to inspire execution and enthusiasm. Qualifications You bring deep expertise in high‑performance power conversion, demonstrating strength across theoretical design, modeling, and real‑world system implementation. You possess broad technical range across key pillars of advanced power engineering, including: Magnetic design Passive component selection Power device/driver interactions System‑level implementation constraints and optimisation Thermal design This role requires both strong engineering depth and excellent executive‑level communication skills. Qualifications: MSEE or PhD in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience) Directly relevant experience in power electronics, power conversion, PDN design, or system architecture Proficiency with key industry standard tools is a significant advantage, including: Ansys Q3D and Si‑Wave (parasitic extraction, PDN modelling) Ansys Icepak or Siemens Flotherm (thermal simulation) Ansys Maxwell (3D magnetic modelling) Simplis/Simetrix (electrical modelling, architecture simulation) Cadence Allegro or Altium (PCB tools) Benefits Launch and advance your career in technical and business roles across four Product Groups and various corporate functions Make a real impact by developing innovative products and solutions to meet our global customers' evolving needs and help make people’s lives easier, safe and secure Maximise your performance and well‑being in our flexible and inclusive work environment, with a hybrid model that gives employees the ability to work remotely two days a week while ensuring we come together as a team in the office the rest of the time Renesas Electronics is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer, committed to supporting diversity and fostering a work environment free of discrimination on the basis of sex, race, religion, national origin, gender, gender identity, gender expression, age, sexual orientation, military status, veteran status or any other basis protected by law.
