Manages the property’s reactive and proactive sales efforts and provides day‑to‑day leadership to sales associates to achieve property sales objectives. The role is responsible for implementing the brand’s service strategy, building value‑based customer relationships, evaluating participation in sales channels, and managing the marketing budget to develop campaigns, promotions, and collateral that drive revenue. Candidate Profile Education and Experience Required: 2‑year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 4 years experience in the sales and marketing or related professional area. OR 4‑year bachelor’s degree in the same fields; 2 years experience in sales and marketing or related professional area. Preferred: 4‑year college degree. Demonstrated skills in supervising a team. Lodging sales experience. Hotel industry work experience, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance. Core Work Activities Managing Sales Activities Manages development of a strategic account plan for demand generators. Manages reactive and proactive sales efforts. Determines marketing communication activities with Regional Marketing Communications. Provides customer intelligence and evaluates market trends for strategic adjustments. Reviews the STAR report, competitive shopping reports and other resources to maintain market awareness. Researches competitor strategies to grow occupancy, RevPAR, and market share. Attends strategy meetings to update sales direction. Suggests innovative marketing ideas and deployment strategies. Assesses and supports participation with Area Sales and Group Sales. Serves as sales contact for the General Manager, Group Sales, Area Sales leaders, and customers. Acts as the sales authority on contract processes. Serves as liaison with other hotel departments as appropriate. Participates in sales calls to acquire new business. Identifies public‑relations opportunities and coordinates related activities. Supports crisis communication coordination with the General Manager. Executes Marriott’s Customer Service Standards and brand standards. Supports operational aspects of booked business, including proposals, contracts, and correspondence. Performs daily service basics according to brand programs. Ensures seamless turnover from sales to operations and back to sales. Monitors guest issue resolution and channels issues appropriately. Maintains performance by increasing revenue and controlling expenses, delivering ROI to the owner and Marriott International. Implements brand service strategy and initiatives to build long‑term value‑based relationships. Coordinates regional and national promotion activities. Performs other duties as assigned. Building Successful Relationships Develops partnerships with local organizations to increase brand awareness. Manages internal key stakeholder relationships. Coaches revenue‑generating department leaders on strategies and goals. Verifies that the sales team leverages Marriott International demand engines. Works with Human Resources, Engineering, and Loss Prevention to ensure regulatory and union compliance. Partners with HR to attract, develop, and retain talent aligned with strategic priorities. Creates effective structures, processes, and performance‑management systems. Sets performance expectations, aligns rewards, addresses performance issues, and holds staff accountable. Forecasts talent needs and manages recruitment strategies with HR. Maintains a list of top sales talent and executes recruitment plans. Supports tools and training resources for sales associates. Champions leadership development and workforce planning for a diverse, high‑caliber talent pipeline. Identifies, trains, and mentors group sales associates, utilizing on‑the‑job training tools. Transfers functional knowledge and develops cross‑discipline sales skills. Provides day‑to‑day leadership to achieve booking goals and revenue objectives. Evaluates participation in sales channels and strengthens relationships to market the property. Manages the marketing budget for property‑specific campaigns, promotions, and collateral.
