Leap29 are on the lookout for an experienced Materials Engineer to support a major offshore and subsea projects in Milan on an initial 12-month contract. The role covers material selection, corrosion management, welding and coating support, pipeline integrity, and coordination with various engineering and fabrication teams. Key Responsibilities Prepare material selection specifications for line pipes, fittings, CRA materials, flanges, and subsea structures. Define corrosion allowances and ensure compliance with standards including DNV-ST-F101, API 5L, ISO 13628, and API 17D. Develop corrosion mitigation strategies, review CP systems, coating specifications, and corrosion risk assessments. Review welding procedures, qualifications, heat treatment requirements, and NDT activities. Define offshore coating and field joint coating systems, including mechanical protection requirements. Support pipeline integrity activities including fatigue, fracture toughness, sour service assessments, and failure investigations. Coordinate with pipeline, fabrication, installation, and vendor teams to ensure specification alignment. Participate in vendor qualification, FATs, mill testing, coating trials, and QA/QC compliance reviews. Qualifications & Experience Degree in Materials, Metallurgical, Mechanical, or Corrosion Engineering. Extensive experience in offshore/subsea materials engineering. Strong knowledge of metallurgy, corrosion engineering, welding, coatings, and cathodic protection systems. Experience with line pipe mills, coating facilities, field joint coating, and QA/QC processes. Familiarity with offshore coating systems including FBE, 3LPE, and PP. Good understanding of standards such as DNV-ST-F101, API 5L, ISO 15156/NACE MR0175, and API 17D.
