As an Area Manager you’ll lead a team that maintains safety, efficiency, and high quality, and drive productivity across projects within the network. Key job responsibilities Create, oversee, and drive a culture of safety and wellbeing. Analyse and implement changes to keep quality and productivity consistently high. Oversee projects to streamline processes, optimise productivity and increase quality of service for customers. Analyse shift performance against business objectives, and implement actions to improve operational excellence. Collaborate with management-level colleagues to standardise shift practices. German language skills (C1-level at least) mandatory. A day in the life You’ll work on a shift pattern at one of our sites, focusing on safety, quality, and shift performance. You’ll also oversee process improvements, drive implementation, manage a team, and mentor new managers. The day is varied, involving routine team management, operational responsibilities, process improvement, and contingency tasks. About the team Amazon Transportation Service (ATS) is part of Amazon’s logistics offering. The team manages air, sea, and road transport and sortation centres, using advanced technology to maximise efficiency. Data‑driven decision making is central to the team’s success, and safety is paramount. Basic Qualifications Degree. Relevant experience in people management. Relevant experience communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including peers and leadership. Relevant experience using data or anecdotal evidence to influence business decisions. Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English and local language. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with Lean, Six Sigma and Kaizen techniques. Experience in another logistics environment. Relevant experience working with the MS Office suite in a professional environment.
